Brazil’s soybean exports in the year reaches 80% of expected

SAO PAULO, Aug 1 (Reuters) – Brazil’s soybean exports continued strong in July, totaling 5.66 million tons, bringing the volume shipped across the country in the year trading at about 80 per cent of the total for all the season 2013/14, according to data from the Bureau of Foreign Trade (Secex) released on Thursday.
Since February, beginning of business enterprises soy from Brazil, were exported 31.83 million tons, according to Reuters calculations based on information from Secex.
Earlier, the association that brings together the industries sector has revised its estimate for exports between February 2013 and January 2014 to a record 39.5 million tons.
Exports at the beginning of the season are about 20 percent above the volume shipped in the same six months of the business year earlier, when they were exported 26.49 million tons between February and July.
From a record in May of this year, exports have been falling, but continue apace, amid strong international demand for Brazilian products, while the United States is in the offseason.
In June shipments were 6.5 million tons, and in July 2012 had reached 4.13 million tons.
CORN
Cereal exports totaled 733,300 tons in July, compared to a volume of 276 300 tonnes in June (volume adjusted for Secex).
A year earlier, when there was prospect of crop failure in the U.S. and higher international demand for Brazilian corn, shipments were 1.7 million tons. space left by soybeans, corn shipments had expanded in July.
