In an economic environment increasingly competitive, companies need to be efficient in all their processes to prevent losses and optimize costs. The intra-logistics, defined as the movement of materials within warehouses, manufacturing plants and distribution center, is one of the sectors that greatly contribute to the search for competitiveness.

According to Eduardo Banzato, director of IMAM Consulting, lack of awareness of the losses related to intra-logistics is one of the challenges facing the sector in Brazil. Why consider other types of operating costs, losses can represent up to 25% of spending on the operations of an organization. Besides forklifts, the intra-logistics comprises also includes service providers, automation systems and storage, information technology and other processes.

“The intra-logistics sector is still undervalued by organizations in general, it is still not seen as a possible solution to the problems of Brazil’s infrastructure. This view just preventing the development of facilities and government benefits that would encourage the development of the industry, “says Banzato.

The consultant estimates that as the market invest in the planning of logistics operations at a level of depth that consider the intra-logistics solutions, supply chains will be more competitive globally. For this, the need to invest not only in automation and technology, but also in professional training.

“Many of the opportunities offered by the sector are derived from analyzes and further studies, which require expertise in statistics, operations research, and other matters that are forgotten in training,” says Banzato.

Research indicates that a company that invests in intralogistics have a clearer view of their operating costs, identifying where and when to invest in solutions, and enables the company to understand the real role of professionals in each activity performed and thus generate products and services more quality and higher productivity.

To Banzato the time of intra-logistics in Brazil is continuing development and increased investments in solutions and technologies, and import knowledge of markets where the sector already has major importance, especially in the area of professional development of the workforce.
