… A study with thousand of top management executives, business unit leaders and executives with power of IT decision of 21 countries showed that the companies predict that more than half of the applications and services are deployed in hybrid cloud within about three year old.

The survey was commissioned by Avanade, a provider of business technology solutions and managed services company. It was also found that while companies of all sizes and regions are considering the adoption of hybrid cloud a priority, there is much confusion about what exactly it means in addition to the necessary preparations for accession.

Pulling ahead of the competition

Despite concerns about security and privacy, there is a critical point for the effective use of hybrid cloud. According to the survey, companies around the world expect that the solutions found in this cloud format gives an advantage over its competitors.

Interestingly, with IT spending moving out of technology departments, members of senior management are the most optimistic about the value of hybrid cloud solutions and more motivated to adopt them. In fact, they are 32% more likely to join than the IT leaders immediately defending the movement for critical applications with data, analytics, e-commerce applications and services for the customer.

Despite these positive results, the survey also shows that companies have not yet taken an important step towards this competitive advantage, since most did not develop a strategy to use hybrid cloud as part of the company’s infrastructure.

A clear cut

Although research shows that the deadline for implementation can occur in up to five years, the Brazilian market was more rushed, with around 80% of respondents say that the hybrid cloud strategy should be a major focus for companies already in 2015, the highest average among the 21 countries that responded to the survey.

“There is still a lack of information about the benefits of hybrid cloud, it is natural that the first time the company only focus on the costs of the operation.” Says Marcelo Serigo, CTIO Avanade Brazil.

With improvements in security and privacy over the last three years, Avanade believes that the hybrid cloud went from a promise into reality, and is a possible advantage for organizations to set aside the concern about the technical aspects and focus on issues that are critical to business growth.

Some Highlights

In addition to all the above indicated data, the survey Avanade also turned out to collect a number of important data for those considering working with the hybrid cloud:

  • Companies are investing in hybrid cloud solutions at a faster pace than public or private clouds, with 69% of firms agreeing that the implementation of this type of solution will be a major focus area for 2015. In Brazil this number is 79% accurate.
  • While agreeing that the adoption of hybrid cloud is a priority, currently 58% of companies do not have an implementation strategy.
  • Few companies understand the potential of hybrid cloud. 16% of respondents are able to identify the range of benefits provided, as the ability to integrate “conventional” clouds, better manage and adjust the workload, share the workload across multiple public clouds.
  • Most respondents (74%) agree that the adoption of hybrid cloud will allow their organizations to focus on issues that are critical to business growth.
  • 71% of companies are still not prepared to receive the hybrid cloud. These companies are simply using the infrastructure that have to run existing applications.
  • 53% of companies identify problems with security and privacy as the main concern to implementation, but 60% admit that public cloud solutions are more secure than three years ago.
  • Companies of all sizes and from all regions expect more than half of their applications and services to be deployed in a hybrid cloud environment within an average of three years.
