Since October 2007, Akzo Nobel – Manufacturer of paints and varnishes, owner of brands CORAL, SPARLACK, Ypiranga and Hammerite – uses the WMS DATASUL for managing their deposits shipping product. Aiming to further improve the operation in deposits Maua and Recife, in August 2010 a project was implemented to improve the logistics involving the WMS.
For greater control over the physical movement of goods in the warehouse of dispatch, had need to implement a system of unique identification products to complement the existing functionality in the product DATASUL WMS. Also, due to the large volume of products from returns and cancellations, needed greater control and traceability over these balances in deposit.
Along with the consulting team and development of SCM Concept, we designed a new system for the unique identification of products as customer’s need. We have also developed new procedures for handling physical activities as well as new interfaces for data collectors.
Processes and controls that were previously performed manually are now automated and performed by data collectors. Among these processes highlight the conference of returned products to customers, the transfer of the deposit returns for dispatch and storage areas directly picking.
According Luismaro Carretero, IT Consultant in the area of Supply Chain at Akzo Nobel and responsible for the design, implementation has brought numerous benefits and can highlight the following:
- Increased accuracy in separating the picking area, avoiding rework the loading area and / or potential customer complaints;
- Increased inventory accuracy in the picking area, improving the productivity of separators;
- Greater agility to return products to stock, thus improving service billing;
- Greater reliability in the conference while receiving returns and returns.
Akzo Nobel is a company that has always sought excellence in logistics and SCM Concept proved the ideal partner in this task.
